Heap leaching and recovery

Around 20% of world copper production, and many other metals, occurs via heap leaching, where large stacks of crushed ore are irrigated with an acid solution. The same source reports metal recovery factors of 30 to 70% where percolation through the heap is not monitored.

Common questions

Short answers here. Every question links to the full Basin Gulch FAQ.

How much gold does the United States produce?

More than 40 lode gold mines in 12 states produced an estimated 160 tonnes of gold in 2025, worth about US$17 billion, according to USGS Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026 as summarized by Farmonaut. US mine output fell from 187 tonnes in 2021 to 160 tonnes in 2025 while the average price rose from US$1,801 to about US$3,300 per ounce.

Which US states produce the most gold?

Nevada produced about 64 percent of US gold and Alaska about 22 percent in 2025, according to USGS figures summarized by Farmonaut. The four Nevada Gold Mines sites alone produced about 2.59 million ounces in 2025 on a 100 percent basis, roughly half of US output. Basin Gulch is outside both states, in west-central Montana.

Is Montana or Nevada better for gold exploration?

It depends on the project. Nevada hosts most US gold production and many large operations. Montana offers established historic districts, and Basin Gulch specifically offers patented land, oxide mineralization near surface, and year-round road access. Geology, land status and permitting differ project by project, so compare individual projects rather than states.

Why do S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 compliant ounces matter?

Lannister Mining states there is a clear premium in the market for S-K 1300 and NI 43-101 compliant gold and silver ounces in the USA. S-K 1300 is the US SEC disclosure standard for mining properties and NI 43-101 is the Canadian standard. Basin Gulch does not yet have a compliant resource; a Maiden Mineral Resource Estimate is the stated goal.

What is the difference between a gold exploration company and a gold producer?

A gold exploration company searches for and defines deposits; a producer operates a mine and sells metal. Lannister Mining is an exploration company: Basin Gulch has historical drilling but no current mine. For scale, the world's top 40 mining companies earned US$909 billion in revenue in 2025, according to PwC Mine 2026.
